I went to Exeter University and studied English Literature for my bachelor’s degree, I then realised I wanted to go into property and went to Harper Adams from which I graduated with a master’s degree in Rural Estate Land Management in August 2024. I then joined Carter Jonas in September 2024.

We are excited to bring you the latest updates from Carter Jonas.
In recent months, our teams have been busy securing new contracts and successfully completing a variety of projects. Notably, we announced that our Science and Technology team has been appointed as the leasing agent for HEMISPHERE Two, a cutting-edge laboratory and workspace development by Sciontec in Liverpool. This initiative, developed in partnership with Liverpool City Council, the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University, and Bruntwood SciTech, aims to attract health and life sciences occupiers to the vibrant Knowledge Quarter in Liverpool. Additionally, our team has been appointed British Land as the joint leasing agent for Paper Yard, its 33,000 sq ft CL2 lab and office space located in Canada Water, London.
Separately, on April 4, we received news that consent had been granted for the Rampion 2 Offshore Wind Farm. Our Infrastructure team provided expert assistance on the onshore aspects of the application, including land referencing, landowner engagement, and public consultation. The consent permits the installation of up to 90 wind turbines and their foundations off the Sussex coast, featuring subsea cables that will transport the generated power to shore, ultimately connecting to the national transmission network at Bolney in Mid Sussex.
In other news, last month, over 800 members of our team gathered for our inaugural firmwide Collaboration Day at the ICC in Birmingham. This milestone event marked a significant moment in our history, as it provided an opportunity to celebrate our 170-year legacy and acknowledge the hard work and contributions of those who have supported our growth.
The day was also a chance to promote our new growth strategy, Vision 2030. As we move forward with ambitious plans for the next five years, collaboration will be essential in our pursuit of excellence in service for our clients and colleagues.
March APC Graduate Event
Between 6-7 March, we hosted our March APC Graduate Event at the beautiful Mercure Walton Hall—and what a fantastic couple of days it was!
We welcomed 87 graduates, all full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to take the next step in their APC journey. The sun was shining, the sessions were insightful, and we even had grads saying it was the best APC event yet! Feedback like that makes all the months of planning completely worth it.
A huge thank you to everyone who played a part in making the event such a success—especially our Carter Jonas trainers, whose time and expertise are key in supporting our graduates.
We’re already looking ahead to our September APC event, and we can’t wait to do it all again!
International Women’s Day Celebration
We recently held a celebration of International Women’s Day with a firm-wide webinar, hosted by Equity Partner Lil Houghton. The event included an internal update on our Gender Pay Gap, as well as a talk from external speaker Sharon Jackson. Sharon has 25 years’ experience in her field and completed a Master’s in coaching and behavioural change. She works with many key clients include Pfizer, CBRE and Oracle, with a specific focus on supporting female development.
To conclude the session we celebrated some of the inspirational people at Carter Jonas who work to support females in their careers, through peer nominations, shared at the event.
Interview with Richard Fairey, Rural Graduate Surveyor, Oxford
I help to manage estates and portfolios of land largely entering around Buckinghamshire. I aid in carrying out valuations of different types and scale of property.
My favourite project to work on has been carrying out biannual valuations of Blenheim estate’s residential portfolio.
Varied, friendly and exciting
The key skills I think that are required are communication, organisation, and the ability to self-manage. Also, to work effectively as a team-player in order to achieve goals and objectives that you wouldn't necessarily be able to otherwise.
Reach out to friends and family who either work in, or know about the sector so you can gather a better understanding of the job, and so you can excel in your interview.
