We are pleased to share the latest updates from the world of Carter Jonas.

This quarter has felt especially energising and forward looking at Carter Jonas. It has been full of activity, ideas and initiatives across the firm, guided by our Vision 2030 strategy and our focus on people, learning and modern working. It’s been a quarter where technology, development and collaboration have all made a real difference.

We have seen a flurry of promotions and new senior appointments in a variety of teams, from Development North to Rural South and within Business Services. This includes the launch of our rebranded Clients and Marketing team, which reflects the integrated response that modern marketing, communications, and client engagement demand. Together, these changes highlight the investment we are making in our people and services, and our presence in key regions across the country.

We have also continued helping colleagues to build confidence with the technology, tools and applications that are increasingly shaping the modern workplace. Our MADE (Modern Agile Digital Employee), programme has been rolled out, giving teams the opportunity to learn, experiment and build digital skills. This sits alongside wider efforts that are helping us create a more collaborative and efficient working environment.

Overall, it has been a highly positive and constructive quarter that really shows our momentum.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating these milestones!

Learning and Development at Carter Jonas

International Women's Day

This year, to mark International Women’s Day, we held a firmwide webinar where colleagues from across Carter Jonas reflected on the theme ‘Give to Gain; and how the landscape is changing to better support development, career pathways and parenthood.

We were joined by a panel of speakers with varying experience across the industry and shared a recording of the event. Alongside this, you can find further information on some of the inspirational stories of people in our business on the Carter Jonas LinkedIn page, also celebrating the event.

These interviews highlighted the many ways women across our firm contribute to each other's growth while continuing to develop themselves.

Early careers news

In March, our Graduates and Apprentices spent two days at Wyboston Lakes & Spa for our Graduate Away Days, to support them in preparing for the APC.

The programme combined skills development with practical insight, including: skills workshops, competency run-throughs and interview techniques support. They also attended different sites including Latterby Farm, Wellbrook Court as well as a trip to Central Cambridge!

The sessions gave our early careers colleagues valuable time to reflect, ask questions, and connect their day to day work with APC expectations. It was a pleasure to see them engaged and motivated across the two days and it is a great way for our Graduates and Apprentices to also build their internal networks.

Interview with Noah Wall - Apprentice Surveyor, Commercial Cambridge

I discovered the property world after exploring different career paths following college. After working as a prison officer, I realised I wanted a long-term professional career where I could continue working with people but also develop technically. Property stood out because it combines problem-solving, client interaction, and offers clear progression, which really appealed to me.

I studied a Level 3 Sports Diploma at college, which helped me build strong transferable skills like teamwork, communication, and discipline. Alongside that, my experience as a prison officer further developed my ability to stay calm under pressure, manage difficult situations, and communicate effectively with a wide range of people—all of which are highly relevant in property management.

I was attracted to Carter Jonas because of its strong reputation and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while studying towards a recognised qualification. The variety of work and the supportive environment for apprentices made it stand out to me as a great place to start and build my career.

I’m finding the apprenticeship route really rewarding. It allows me to apply what I’m learning in real time, which helps it stick much more. Balancing work and study can be challenging, but it’s definitely worth it because of how quickly you develop both professionally and personally.

The culture has been supportive and inclusive. From the beginning, I’ve felt comfortable asking questions and getting involved. There’s a strong team environment, and people are always willing to help, which makes a big difference when you’re starting out.

Don’t worry if your background isn’t directly related skills from other experiences can be valuable. For example, my time as a prison officer taught me resilience and communication, which I now use every day. Also, try to learn about the different areas of property early on, as it’s a very broad industry.

Be proactive and open-minded. Look into different employers and routes, and don’t be afraid to take a less traditional path. Apprenticeships give you a great opportunity to earn, learn, and gain real experience all at the same time.
